Upstate Sits Ninth after Day One of CSU Fall Invitational

Mount Pleasant, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team is currently in ninth place following the first day of the CSU Fall Invitational on Monday from the par-72, 5,808-yard Rivertowne Country Club.
Upstate began the day by shooting a 306 in the first round before nearly a three-hour lightning delay in the afternoon prompted play to continue until nightfall. All but two Spartans have finished their second rounds as play will resume Tuesday morning.
Freshmen Pan Paksanont and Anna Chanthaphaeng led Upstate on day one as they are tied for ninth and 35th place, respectively. Paksanont fired an opening round 74 and is currently at even-par through 16 holes of her second round. Chanthaphaeng responded from a first round score of 81 to sit at 68 heading into the final hole of second round play on Tuesday.
Payton Culler finished the day tied for 35th with a two-round score of 153 (76-77) and Sidney Dermody is in a tie for 46th position at 156 (75-81). Allea Hawkins rounded out the leaderboard for the Spartans at 166 (83-83).
Georgia Southern currently leads the CSU Fall Invitational by five strokes over second-place College of Charleston with a team score of 2-under par.
Individually, Georgia Southern's Iben Hvass and Shelby Thompson of Charleston Southern are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under par with both players still having to play three holes of their second round tomorrow.

The second round of the CSU Fall Invitational is scheduled to resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The final round will follow immediately after.
