Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team will travel to Florida for a pair of ASUN matches this weekend as the Spartans take on Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at 7 p.m. before closing out the weekend with a 1 p.m. contest at Stetson.
Upstate is 0-9-2 overall and 0-1 in the ASUN following a 3-0 home loss to NJIT last Saturday. FGCU is 6-4-0 overall while Stetson enters the weekend at 3-4-2. The Eagles and Hatters were scheduled to open league play against each other last weekend but inclement weather forced the postponement of that contest.
Brooke Bailey leads the NCAA with 82 saves and is 10th nationally with 7.45 saves per game. Bailey leads the conference with 1030:00 minutes played and is fifth with a .788 save percentage.
FGCU is led by Tabby Tindell, who is tied for the league lead with seven goals and leads the ASUN with 18 points. The Eagles lead the all-time series 8-0-1 following a 5-0 win in Fort Myers, Fla. last season.
Stetson is led by Sarah Collins, who is tied with Tindell for the league lead in goals and is second in the conference in points. The Hatters lead the all-time series 8-0-1 after a 3-2 win in DeLand, Fla. in 2015.
Live stats for both matches will be available via a link on www.upstatespartans.com. Friday's match at FGCU is being televised on ASUN.TV. Stetson will live stream Sunday's match. Updates will be posted to the Upstate women's soccer Twitter page (@UpstateWSoccer).
Upstate returns to County University Soccer Stadium next weekend for a pair of matches. The Spartans will play their final home night match against Jacksonville on Friday at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend against North Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m.
