Upstate, Paksanont Set School Records during First Round of FAU Fall Invitational

Boca Raton, Fla. – The opening round of the FAU Fall Invitational saw two school records fall for the USC Upstate women's golf program as the Spartans set a new low round while Pan Paksanont carded an individual low round record on Monday from the par 72, 6,039-yard Osprey Point Golf Course.

Upstate currently sits in fifth place of the team standings after shooting a school record round of 4-over 292.

Seminole State leads the FAU Fall Invitational after day one with a team score of 277. Individually, Lily Downs of UTEP and Bethune-Cookman's Mackenzie Butzer, playing as an individual, are tied atop the leaderboard after posting scores of 66.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

The Spartans first round 292 bested the previous mark of 295 set during the second round of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate last season.
Paksanont's round of 5-under 67 surpassed the old record of 69 set by Rachel Lewis on Sept. 18, 2010 at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate. It is also a new career-low round for the sophomore.
Both Upstate and Paksanont compiled scores of 4-under par over their final six holes on Monday.
The Spartans finished the back-nine at even-par.
Paksanont is the top individual performer for Upstate in par 3 scoring (3-under, 2.40 stroke average), par 4 scoring (2-under, 3.75 stroke average) and birdies (6). She also has an even-par 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Anna Chanthaphaeng and Sidney Dermody lead the Spartans in par 5 scoring at 1-under par and a 4.80 stroke average.
Dermody collected a team-best 14 pars in the first round.
Payton Culler has a 2-under, 2.60 stroke average in par 3 scoring while Brooke Hutto is at even-par with a 3.00 stroke average.
In par 5 scoring, Hutto and Marley DeFreitas are tied at even-par with a 5.00 stroke average.
Chanthaphaeng and Hutto finished with three birdies each while Culler added two.
DeFreitas is second on the team with 13 pars and Chanthaphaeng third at 11.
