Chanthaphaeng Sits Tied for Ninth at Terrier Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – Anna Chanthaphaeng carded an opening round 75 and currently sits in a tie for ninth place to lead the USC Upstate women's golf team after first round play at the Terrier Intercollegiate on Monday from the par 72, 6,012-yard Country Club of Spartanburg.

Upstate finished day one in eighth place after shooting a combined score of 318. The Spartans are three strokes back of host Wofford in seventh place and four behind sixth place Tennessee Tech.

High Point leads the Terrier Intercollegiate by 11 strokes over Presbyterian College with an opening round 292. Cayla Smith of High Point sits atop the individual leaderboard by two strokes at 3-under 69.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

Upstate is tied for first among the tournament field with 53 pars and 3.25 stroke average in par 3 scoring.
The Spartans also registered a 4.72 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 5.40 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Upstate has three players in the top-20 of the individual standings in Chanthaphaeng, Pan Paksanont (T-17^th) and Marley DeFreitas (T-17^th), who is playing as an individual.
Chanthaphaeng was the top individual performer for the Spartans in par 3 scoring (-1, 2.75 stroke average), par 4 scoring (+1, 4.10 stroke average) and pars (14).
Paksanont, DeFreitas and Brooke Hutto are all tied for the team-lead in par 5 scoring at even-par with a 5.00 stroke average.
Paksanont and Payton Culler concluded first round play at even-par in par 3 scoring with a 3.00 stroke average.
Paksanont is also second on the team with 13 pars.
Caroline Heustess, playing as an individual, finished the day at 2-over par in par 4 scoring and compiled a 4.20 stroke average.
