Culler Leads Upstate to Record-Breaking Day at FAU Fall Invitational

Boca Raton, Fla. – For the second straight day, the USC Upstate women's golf team set a new school record while Payton Culler carded a career-low 69 to lead the Spartans on the final day of the FAU Fall Invitational from the par 72, 6,039-yard Osprey Point Golf Course.
Upstate bested its previous school record mark, set during the first round on Monday, by three strokes after shooting a 289. The Spartans finished in fourth place with a combined score of 581 (292-289).
Seminole State won the FAU Fall Invitational by six strokes over host Florida Atlantic at 10-under 566. Worapitcha Anndit of Seminole State took home individual medalist honors after shooting an 11-under par 133.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- Upstate tied for the lowest round of the day at 289 along with tournament winner Seminole State.
- All 12 rounds turned in by Spartan golfers were in the 70's or lower led by Pan Paksanont's school record 67 on Monday and Culler's 69 in round two.
- Paksanont recorded her second straight top-5 performance after leading Upstate individually tying for fifth place at 5-under 139 (67-72) following her second round 72.
- Culler and Anna Chanthaphaeng were the second-highest finishers for the Spartans as both tied for 12th place at 146. Culler collected rounds of 77 and a career-best 69 while Chanthaphaeng had back-to-back scores of 73.
- Paksanont was the top individual performer for Upstate in par 3 scoring (2-under, 2.80 stroke average), par 4 scoring (2-under, 3.88 stroke average), par 5 scoring (1-under, 4.90 stroke average) and birdies (8). She also finished the tournament with 25 pars.
- Sidney Dermody led the Spartans in pars with 26 while Culler tied Paksanont in par 3 scoring at 2-under par with a 2.80 stroke average. Dermody added an even-par 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
- Chanthaphaeng contributed a 3.10 stroke average in par 3 scoring, even-par 4.00 stroke average in par 4 scoring, 5.10 stroke average in par 5 scoring, five birdies and 24 pars.
- Culler tallied an even-par 4.00 stroke average in par 4 scoring and tied for second on the team with seven birdies.
- Brooke Hutto concluded the tournament with a 5.10 stroke average in par 5 scoring and also tied for second with seven birdies.
- Marley DeFreitas turned in 23 pars over the course of 36 holes.
