
Paksanont Matches Own School Record to Tie for Second at Terrier Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – Pan Paksanont tied her own school record on Tuesday by shooting a final round 67 to finish in a tie for second place and lead the USC Upstate women's golf team on the final day of the Terrier Intercollegiate from the par 72, 6,012-yard Country Club of Spartanburg.
Upstate cut 25 strokes off its opening day score for a final round 293, its third-lowest of the season, to move up four spots in the team standings and finish in fourth place with a combined score of 611 (318-293).
High Point won the Terrier Intercollegiate by eight strokes with a team score of 592. Cayla Smith of High Point held off Paksanont, Celia Mansour of Presbyterian College and Georgia Southern's Natalie Petersen at 2-under 142.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- The 293 recorded by the Spartans on Tuesday was the lowest of all 11 teams competing with the closest being Georgia Southern at 295.
- Upstate saw four of its five counting players improve its scores from day one by eight or more strokes each from Paksanont, Brooke Hutto, Sidney Dermody and Payton Culler.
- The Spartans have posted three of their lowest rounds in program history in the last four rounds with the first two, 289 and 292, occurring last week at the FAU Fall Invitational.
- Upstate led the Terrier Intercollegiate in par 3 scoring with a 3.12 stroke average, and was tied for second with 101 pars and third in par 5 scoring with a 5.23 stroke average.
- The Spartans also registered a 4.51 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 15 birdies.
- Paksanont picked up her third consecutive top-5 performance after placing in a tie for fourth at the Jacksonville Classic and tie for fifth at the FAU Fall Invitational.
- Paksanont was the top performer for Upstate in par 3 scoring, par 4 scoring, par 5 scoring and birdies. The sophomore finished tied for third at the tournament in par 3 scoring with a 2.88 stroke average and par 5 scoring with a 3-under par 4.62 stroke average, and tied for sixth in par 4 scoring with a 4.20 stroke average. She also tallied eight birdies.
- Anna Chanthaphaeng tied for the tournament-lead in par 3 scoring with a 2.75 stroke average.
- Culler tied for fifth among the tournament field in par 3 scoring at even-par with a 3.00 stroke average.
- Hutto, Dermody and Caroline Heustess all tied for eighth in par 5 scoring at even-par with a 5.00 stroke average.
- Marley DeFreitas posted a 1-over score on par 5 holes to go with a 5.12 stroke average.
- Chanthaphaeng and DeFreitas led the team with 21 pars while Paksanont, Culler, Hutto, Dermody and Heustess each collected 20.
