
Upstate Closes out Fall Season this Weekend at Seahawk Fall Invite

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team is set to play its final tournament of the fall season this weekend as the Spartans travel to Wilmington, N.C. to compete in the Seahawk Fall Invite hosted by UNC Wilmington at the UNCW Courts.
Play begins with doubles and singles at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Upstate is one of five teams playing in the tournament this weekend along with UNC Wilmington, Georgia Southern, Clemson and Presbyterian College.
The Spartans will begin the tournament on Friday morning at 10 a.m. with a doubles match against UNC Wilmington and then face Georgia Southern/Clemson at 2 p.m. in singles play. On Saturday, Upstate plays Georgia Southern/Clemson in a doubles match at 10 a.m. before taking on Presbyterian College at 2 p.m. in singles competition. The Spartans then conclude play on Sunday with a doubles match against Presbyterian College at 9 a.m. and Georgia Southern/Clemson at 10 a.m. in a singles contest.
Upstate returns to the court for the first time since Oct. 13-14 at the ITA Carolina Regional in Cary, N.C. The Spartans had four players compete in singles play and registered two wins in the first round of the main bracket from Felix Ewers and Ankush Arora. Ignacio Garrido also picked up a singles victory in the consolation bracket.
Admission this weekend is free and parking is available near the courts.
Upstate opens its 2018 spring season on Friday, Jan. 26 with a home match against Eastern Washington at 12 p.m.
