
Upstate Heads West to Denver for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's basketball team is scheduled to play the seventh game of its eight-game road trip on Saturday afternoon as it travels west to Denver, Colo. for a 3 p.m. EST contest against the Denver Pioneers at Magness Arena.
Upstate is playing its second game this week after traveling to Manhattan, Kan. on Tuesday and dropped an 86-49 decision to the Kansas State Wildcats. Malik Moore led the Spartans offensively with 16 points while Carson Smith set a new career-high in scoring at Upstate for the second straight game with 11 points. Smith connected on all five of his field goal attempts.
The Spartans concluded the Kansas State game shooting 36.5 percent from the field and added 17 bench points, 16 points in the paint and 12 points off turnovers.
Denver currently sits at 4-5 on the season with wins over Johnson & Wales, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wyoming and San Jose State. Joe Rosga leads the Pioneers offensively with 17.0 points per game this season while Daniel Amigo contributes 16.3 points and a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per contest. Denver is under the direction of second-year head coach Rodney Billups.
Upstate is facing the Pioneers for the first time in program history.
