
Upstate Travels to North Florida, Stetson for Pair of ASUN Matches

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team will play its final two road matches of the season this week when it travels to face the North Florida Ospreys and Stetson Hatters in a pair of ASUN matches.
Upstate begins its week on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. against North Florida before traveling to Stetson on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
The Spartans (5-13, 1-2) closed out their non-conference schedule last Saturday with a 4-0 defeat on the road at Appalachian State. Francisco Neto was leading in his No. 5 singles match 7-6 (7-2), 6-5 but would go unfinished. Ignacio Garrido also sent his No. 4 match into the third set before falling 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.
Garrido leads Upstate this season in singles competition with an 11-6 record playing primarily at No. 6 singles. Garrido and Fernando Bernardes have eight wins in doubles play highlighted by four coming at No. 2 doubles.
North Florida currently sits at 11-6 on the season and 3-0 in league play, while Stetson is 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
The Spartans close out their regular season on Saturday, April 15 when they host NJIT at 2 p.m.
