Paksanont Finishes Runner-Up at Low Country Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, S.C. – Pan Paksanont carded a final round 74, tied for lowest of the day, and finished in second place as the USC Upstate women's golf team concluded play at the Low Country Intercollegiate on Sunday from the par 72, 5901-yard Moss Creek Golf Club.
USC Upstate had the lowest round of any team on Sunday at 308 and finished the tournament in fifth place with a combined score of 621 (313-308), with only four strokes separating it from second-place Albany.
Seton Hall won the Low Country Intercollegiate at 609 while Melany Chong of Appalachian State won individual medalist honors by two strokes over Paksanont at 3-over 147.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- Paksanont recorded her fourth career top-5 performance, all coming this season, and tied her career-best finish of second place after shooting a two-round score of 149 (75-74).
- Paksanont finished in second place earlier this season at the Terrier Intercollegiate.
- Brooke Hutto was the second-best performer for the Spartans finishing tied for 23rd place at 158 (81-77).
- Anna Chanthaphaeng, Payton Culler and Sidney Dermody all finished in a tie for 32nd at 160. Chanthaphaeng carded rounds of 81-79, Culler 76-84 and Dermody 82-78.
- Playing as individuals, Marley DeFreitas also tied for 32nd place while Caroline Heustess was 67th. DeFreitas finished at 160 (75-85) and Heustess 177 (88-89).
- USC Upstate led all teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate with 106 pars and tied for 2nd in par 3 scoring with a 3.28 stroke average.
- The Spartans were also third in par 4 scoring with a 4.41 stroke average.
- USC Upstate added a 5.38 stroke average in par 5 scoring and 11 birdies.
- Paksanont led the tournament field in par 3 scoring at 3-under par with a 2.62 stroke average. She tied for fifth, along with Hutto, with 24 pars.
- Paksanont was tied for ninth with four birdies.
- Hutto was tied for third in par 4 scoring at 2-over with a 4.10 stroke average.
- Dermody contributed a 1-under, 4.88 stroke average in par 5 scoring to finish tied for fourth.
- Along with the team-leading four birdies from Paksanont, Dermody and DeFreitas each had three, Culler two, and Hutto and Chanthaphaeng one apiece.
