Spartans Fall on the Coast to Charleston Southern

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Charleston Southern on Wednesday afternoon in front of a crowd of 150 people at Charleston Southern Soccer Field.

The Buccaneers got off to a hot start scoring in the 12th minute of the game. Lauren McDonald connected with Dakota Fielder for the opening goal of the game. Charleston Southern (5-8-2, 2-4-2 BSC) outshot USC Upstate (2-9-3, 0-7-1 BSC) 8-4 in the opening half and freshman goalkeeper Haylee Myrup (York, S.C.) made four first half saves in her first career start for the Spartans.

In the second half the game did not get much better as the Buccaneers added a pair of goals in the 72nd and the 77th minute of the game. For USC Upstate this was their second consecutive 3-0 loss to a Big South opponent.
