
Arora, Bernardes Receive Big South Men's Tennis Postseason Awards

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate senior Ankush Arora and junior Fernando Bernardes were both recognized by the Big South Conference on Tuesday as the league announced its men's tennis yearly awards.
Arora and Bernardes were named Second Team All-Conference Doubles while Arora was selected Second Team All-Conference Singles and All-Academic Team.
Arora has played in every match this season at No. 1 singles and compiled six wins including three in conference play. He ranks seventh in the Big South this season at No. 1 singles. The Ludhiana, India native compiled conference wins over Campbell, Presbyterian and Hampton while registering non-conference wins over Belmont Abbey, North Dakota and UNC Greensboro. Two of his wins at No. 1 singles came in straight sets.
The senior has compiled a 3.748 grade-point average and is majoring in business administration.
Arora and Bernardes combined to have one of the conference's top No. 1 doubles combinations this season after finishing with five wins including a 4-1 record in league play. The duo ranks fifth in the conference at No. 1 doubles and eighth overall in doubles matches. Arora and Bernardes teamed up to record victories over Chattanooga, Presbyterian, UNC Asheville, Radford and Hampton.
USC Upstate opens play at the Big South Men's Tennis Championship on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. against Hampton in Radford, Va.
