SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer coaching staff has announced the signing of Jeremy Montero, a center forward/wing forward from Benicarlo, Spain. Montero will join the Spartans from Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, S.C., where he has been a resident since 2016.
Montero won a Carolina Cup and State Cup with Tuzos de Pachuca before joining the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy in 2018. As a member of the Elite Clubs National League, Montero's U17 team won the Mid-Atlantic Conference title for the 2018-19 season. He has since moved up to the ECNL U19 team.
The Hillcrest High School team captain has garnered honors such as All-Region 2-AAAAA Team and Upstate Sports Award First Team recognition, as well as a Mid-Atlantic Region Championship.
Prior to arriving in the States, Montero was a member of Benicarlo Base Fútbol which acts as a feeder to the professional club Villarreal Club de Fútbol. He began competing with Benicarlo B.F in 2007.
