
USC Upstate Welcomes High Point for Big South Matchup

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate men's soccer remains at home Thursday evening as the Spartans continue Big South Conference play against High Point at County University Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the match available to watch on ESPN+.

Upstate remains at home Thursday following a 2-1 victory over Radford Saturday evening at County University Soccer Stadium. Josh Zawlocki opened the scoring for the Spartans before David Palade added the eventual game-winning goal. The victory improved Upstate to 4-8-0 overall, 2-1-0 in Big South play and 2-1-0 at home this season.
Through 12 matches, the Spartans have scored 19 goals on 154 shots, averaging 12.8 shots and 1.58 goals per match. Upstate has put 64 attempts on frame and recorded 17 assists while generating 64 corner kicks compared to 53 for its opponents. The Spartans have scored eight times in the first half and 11 times after halftime.
Christian Cook and Josh Zawlocki lead the Upstate attack with four goals and eight points apiece. Tolu Fabamifobee follows with two goals and two assists for six points, while David Palade has contributed two goals and one assist for five points. Both of Palade's goals this season have been game winners. Oscar Kelly leads the Spartans with 23 shots, while Fabamifobee has placed a team-high 10 attempts on goal.
Jacob Cromedy leads Upstate with three assists, while Kelly, Fabamifobee, Jalen Moore and Johannes Lund have each recorded two. In goal, Jarrett Wuerslin has started all 12 matches and played all 1,080 minutes, recording 45 saves and two shutouts.
Thursday's contest marks Upstate's fourth Big South match of the season. The Spartans enter the matchup at 2-1-0 in league play after opening conference action with a 3-1 victory at Presbyterian, falling 2-0 at Longwood and responding with Saturday's 2-1 home victory over Radford.
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point enters Thursday with a 7-3-1 overall record and a perfect 3-0-0 mark in Big South play. The Panthers are riding a four-match winning streak and have won five of their last six. High Point is coming off a 2-0 victory over Longwood Saturday after previously earning a 2-0 road victory at Winthrop. Prosper Adagani and Daniel Lugo supplied the goals against Longwood as the Panthers recorded their second consecutive shutout.
High Point has scored 22 goals through 11 matches, averaging 2.00 goals and 13.1 shots per game. The Panthers have put 59 of their 144 attempts on goal and have recorded 27 assists. High Point has also generated 63 corner kicks while allowing 15 goals this season.
Daniel Lugo leads the High Point attack with nine goals and 18 points while scoring on nine of his 30 shots. He has also recorded two game-winning goals. Prosper Adagani follows with five goals and one assist for 11 points, while Alfred Baafi has contributed two goals and a team-high five assists for nine points. Nick Sarantakos has added two goals and three assists for seven points.
In goal, Josh Caron has started 10 matches and played 900 minutes, recording 32 saves, a 1.40 goals-against average and three shutouts. High Point enters Thursday with a 3-3-0 record away from home and has not allowed a goal in either of its last two matches.
