Event Preview
For the first time since 2010, USC Upstate cross country in making a return to the Louisville Classic, competing in the event at E.P. Sawyer State Park for just the second time in the program's NCAA Division I era.

Returning to the course for the first time since the Firetower Project Open, the Spartans enter after claiming a fifth-place finish on the men's side and an eighth-place finish in the women's race.

In the men's race, senior Jonathan Johnson paced Upstate with his second consecutive top-15 finish, placing 12^th at the Firetower Project Open while freshman Logan Patete claimed a top-25 placement, finishing 25^th. Making his Spartan debut in the event, freshman Gabe Herron set a personal-record 8K time of 30:19.12.

In the women's race, all six Spartans that competed at the season-opening Eye Opener improved their 5K times at the Firetower Project Open as senior Allie Leavitt and freshman Allison Baker claimed personal record times. Leavitt paced Upstate for the second consecutive event as Baker and sophomore Heaven Allen joined Leavitt among Upstate's top finishers.
