Event Preview
Coming off the first of two "postseason" meets at the 2021 Big South Cross Country Championships on October 29 with a pair of top-10 finishes, USC Upstate cross country returns to the course at the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday morning.

Friday's meet marks a return to the NCAA Southeast Regional for the first time since 2019 after not competing at the event last season due to a compressed schedule with all Big South competition moved to the spring due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The meet also features a longer race distance from the regular season as the men's race extends from an 8K to a 10K and the women's race extends from a 5K to a 6K.

The Upstate men enter after claiming a seventh-place finish at the Big South Championships as the team claimed a pair of top-30 finishers. Seniors Jonathan Johnson (26:23.0) and Jonathan Loy (26:29.3) paced the Spartans with 28^th and 30^th-place finishes. Finishing 33^rd, freshman Logan Patete (26:37.0) claimed Freshman of the Year honors in the Big South.

The Spartan women were led by freshman Allison Baker and sophomore Elise Wilcher at the Big South Championship, placing ninth at the event. Baker posted a time of 19:57.7, finishing 40^th while Wilcher finished 53^rd behind a time of 20:57.0.
