Women’s Basketball Rallies For Win No. 21 at UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C – After falling behind by as many as 14 points in the first quarter, USC Upstate women's basketball rallied back by outscoring UNC Asheville 41-17 in quarters two and three to pick up a 68-57 win Saturday afternoon at Kimmel Arena.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 21-6 overall and 13-3 in the Big South, leading the Big South in total wins with 21. Following Campbell's loss later in the day, the Spartans move into a three-way tie for the No. 1 seed, adding to head coach Becky Burke's bid for national and conference coach of the year honors after an increase of eight conference wins and 13 total wins on the season.

Redshirt sophomore guard Chellia Watson paced the Spartans with a game-high 24 points after going 10-of-17 from the floor. Junior guard Jada Logan followed with 19 points and 17 rebounds picking up her 4th double-double of the season.

How It Happened
First Quarter
- UNC Asheville ran out to 10-3 lead three minutes into the game before extending the gap out to as many as 14 points, 19-5, with 3:47 left in the quarter.
- The Bulldogs kept the lead ending the quarter out in from 68-57.
- The Spartans answered with a 20-8 run in the second quarter pulling within two points, 31-29, at the half.
- USC Upstate outshot UNC Asheville 64 percent to 18 percent in the quarter.
- The Spartans never looked back tacking on another 20-point quarter outsourcing the Bulldogs 21-9 in the frame to lead 50-40.
- The two teams traded buckets in the fourth going back and forth.
- USC Upstate still won the quarter 18-17 en route to the 68-57 win.
- With her 19 points and 17 rebounds, Jada Logan picked up her fourth double-double of the season.
- After dropping 24 points Saturday, Chellia Watson recorded 20 plus points for the 9th time.
