
Women's Golf Captures Lady Bison Bay Point Classic Behind Tournament-Low Final Round

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Carrying a streak of four consecutive top-six finishes over from the fall season, USC Upstate women's golf extended said streak with its best finish of the 2021-22 season, bringing home the tournament championship at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic Tuesday afternoon.
As a team, the Spartans found themselves in the top-three following each round of the event but shot up the leaderboard following a final round 297 to claim the tournament championship. Overall, Upstate carded marks of 312-307-297-916 for the event to win by six strokes with the team's final round 297 marking the lowest team round of the event.
Leading Upstate to its first tournament championship since the Golfweek Spring Invitational (April 5-6, 2021), redshirt junior Beem Pabsimma earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team and her best finish of the 2021-22 campaign, finishing 2nd at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic. She fashioned scores of 77-71-74-222, seeing herself in the events' top-10 throughout its three-round duration while also leading the field with three carded Eagles.
The Lady Bison Bay Point Classic was the first tournament of the 2021-22 season to see four Spartans in the leaderboard's top-20 as redshirt junior Kathryn Elliott (12th; 77-77-76-230), redshirt sophomore Preaw Nontarux (t-13th; 79-81-71-231), and sophomore Suwarin Yord-in (t-16th; 79-78-76-233) each joined Pabsimma in the top-20.
Jumping 20 spots in the final round, Nontarux represented Upstate's biggest mover on the event's final day, tying freshman Elin Wahlgren (up 20 following round two) as the team's biggest mover of the event.

- With a victory at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic, Upstate secured its first team victory since taking home the trophy at the Golfweek Spring Invitational (Apr. 5-6, 2021) last season.
- The Lady Bison Bay Point Classic also marked the first event since the Golfweek Spring Invitational to feature four Spartans in the top-20 of an events' final leaderboard. The event also marks the second of the season, joining the Terrier Intercollegiate, to feature three Spartans in the top-15 of the final leaderboard.
- Carding eagles on the Bay Point Golf Club's sixth (Par 5; 427 yards), ninth (Par 5; 461 yards), and 12th (Par 5; 482 yards) holes, Beem Pabsimma carded three of the event's eight eagles, carding, individually, more eagles than any other team in the field.
- Posting seven birdies each, Pabsimma, Kathryn Elliott, and Suwarin Yord-in tied for fifth in the tournament field in total birdies. Carding 34 pars, Preaw Nontarux tied for sixth in the field in total pars.
- Behind her three eagles, Pabsimma paced the tournament field in Par-5 scoring as Nontarux finished tied for ninth in Par-5 scoring. A pair of Spartans finished top-10 in Par-4 scoring with Yord-in (t-5th) and Elliott (t-7th) holding the placements while Pabsimma also tied for fourth in the field in Par-3 scoring.
- As a team, Upstate led the tournament field in total birdies (30) and total eagles (three) while tying for the event lead in Par-5 scoring.
