
Women's Golf and Suwarin Yord-in Claim Runner-Up Finishes at the Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Battling tough conditions and a host of wind, USC Upstate women's golf secured its second consecutive, and fourth overall top-three team finish as the Spartans and sophomore Suwarin Yord-in both collect runner-up finishes at the Low Country Intercollegiate.

Following up a third-place finish at the Husky Invitational to open Upstate's Spring Break, the Spartans collected back-to-back top-three finishes with the program's runner-up placement Sunday. Upstate turned in scores of 301-296-304-901 with the team's second-round 296 representing the 11th sub-300 round through 10 tournaments and 30 rounds during the 2021-22 season.

Led by Yord-in's runner-up finish, Upstate secured its first event since the Jacksonville Classic (Sep. 27-28, 2021) with multiple All-Tournament Team members. Yord-in fashioned scores of 74-73-71-218 to pace the Spartans with redshirt junior Beem Pabsimma tying for third, carding marks of 74-71-75-220. Their finishes marked the first and fourth All-Tournament Team placements, respectively, for Yord-in and Pabsimma this season.

Rounding out a trio of top-15 finishers, redshirt sophomore Preaw Nontarux tied for 13th, posting totals of 76-75-77-228. With her placement, Nontarux cemented Upstate's fourth event during the 2021-22 season to feature three or more top-15 finishers, the first since the San Jose Intercollegiate (Feb. 14-15, 2022).

- Leading to the team's runner-up finish, Upstate finished top-four in the Low Country Intercollegiate field in all five statistical categories. The Spartans finished second and tied for second in Par-4 Scoring (4.31; +46) and total birdies (30) while finishing fourth in Par-3 Scoring (3.20; +12), Par-5 Scoring (5.13; +8), and total pars (159).
- Propelling her to a runner-up finish, Suwarin Yord-in finished top-10 in Par-3 Scoring (3.08; +1), Par-4 Scoring (4.07; +2), and Par-5 Scoring (4.92; -1), finishing tied for sixth, second, and tied for eighth, respectively. She all tied for the lead in the field in total birdies, carding 11.
- Like Yord-in tied for the field lead in total birdies, Beem Pabsimma tied for the tournament lead in total pars, posting 37 at the Low Country Intercollegiate.
- With its runner-up finish at the Low Country Intercollegiate, Upstate has finished top-three in four consecutive events hosted by Wofford. Over the last four seasons and five total events hosted by Wofford, the Spartans have claimed four top-three finishes.
