SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate softball continued its winning streak with an 11-0 win in five innings over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday afternoon. The win featured Casey Gogut's first home run of the season and multiple runs scored from Tiffany Domingue, Sarah Price, Summer Johnson, and Alanna Deal.  
 
Domingue and Price got the Spartans on the board in the bottom of the first inning with Johnson closing out the inning with one final run. Deal continued Upstate's scoring streak as she scored off a wild pitch in the bottom of the second. Cassie Norris was able to record her first run of the year in the second inning with some help from Price. The fourth inning saw the final six Spartan runs. A single from Norris sent Deal home for her second run of the game. Taliyah Thomas went in to pinch run for Norris which resulted in a stolen base followed by a scored run off Price's single. A wild pitch from the Hawks provided Domingue with her second run of the day which made the game 8-0. Carson Shaw pinch hit for Celeste Delorenzo and hit a sacrificed fly to right field, allowing Price to get home. Goguts finished the day for the Spartans with a home run right center, bringing Summer Johnson home with her. 

Maddie Drerup started the day in the circle for the Spartans and pitched 4.0 innings, surrendered no runs, and walked away with her third win of the season. Olivia Hall made her pitching debut for Upstate as she pitched the fifth and final inning against UMES where she had two strikeouts and surrendered no runs.

Notable                

• This was Goguts first home run of the season, but the sixth home run she's had in a Spartan uniform.  

• Johnson and Domingue are both currently riding five game hitting streaks.  

• Johnson and Domingue are also riding a five game reached base streak.  

• Upstate set a season high for runs scored (11) against UMES, along with a new season high for RBI (9). 

• Today's game is the second most runs scored during the Spartan Classic since the Spartan Classic first started in 2020; it's second only to the 13 the Spartans scored against Towson in 2022 (13-6).
