Grant Sherrod Collects Multi-Hit Effort as Baseball Falls in Midweek Clash at Elon

ELON, N.C. – On the road for the final time to close out a five-game road swing, USC Upstate baseball dropped the final game of its trip as it fell Tuesday night 14-1 at Elon, snapping the team's five-game winning streak.

The Phoenix took advantage of 10 free bases in the game, combining them with timely hits to post a pair of big innings in the middle of the game to build upon its early lead. Elon also limited Upstate's opportunities throughout the afternoon, holding the Spartans without a hit for the first 3.2 innings and limiting Upstate to just three hits on the day.

Redshirt junior first baseman Grant Sherrod picked up the lone multi-hit game for the Spartans, picking up a single and double in the game while junior second baseman Easton Cullison drove in Upstate's lone run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
