Upstate women’s golf carries momentum into RiverTowne Invitational

Mount Pleasant, SC--The USC Upstate Women's Golf team is set to continue its impressive run at the RiverTowne Invitational, hosted by Charleston Southern University. This invite will unfold at the scenic RiverTowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where the Spartans aim to secure their seventh consecutive top-5 finish of the year.
Venturing into the Lowcountry—a region synonymous with significant Upstate achievements for the program—the positive momentum buoys the Spartans. At last year's invite, the team showcased their talents in a competitive field of 19, securing fifth place. Notably, three Spartan golfers earned spots in the top-25 of the final leaderboard.
In the 2023 edition of the RiverTowne Invitational, the Spartans were led by Suwarin Yord-in and Preaw Nontarux tied for 13th and 22nd place, with scores of 71-74-73 (218) and 73-76-72 (221), respectively.
The action is scheduled to tee off with the first and second rounds on Monday, February 26th, followed by the concluding round on Tuesday, February 27th.

Situated among scenic marshlands and majestic live oaks with thirteen holes playing along the Wando River and Horlbeck Creek, this 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature course features exceptional year-round playing conditions with five sets of tees from 5100 yards to 7200 yards. This true shot-makers course boasts tree-lined fairways, generous landing areas to set up approach shots, and multi-tiered greens guarded by bunkers and water. The fairways are ample, and the greens roll true. They are kept at a medium speed, befitting a resort course yet approachable enough for public play.

For Monday's daytime play, golfers at the RiverTowne Invitational can expect a mix of clouds and sunshine, creating comfortable conditions with temperatures around 70°F. Winds will be light, blowing from the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
The weather may shift slightly as the late afternoon transitions into the evening. Initially, skies will be partly cloudy, but clouds will gradually increase with the possibility of showers developing after midnight. Temperatures will dip to around 55°F, with light and variable winds.
