Troy Hamilton Picks Up Mult-Hit Game; Reaches Base Three Times as Baseball Falls to No. 2 Clemson at Fluor Field

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Facing Clemson for the second time in a three-game midweek series and closing out the team's hosted games at Fluor Field, USC Upstate baseball fell Tuesday to the No. 2 Tigers in a run-rule 11-1 decision at the home of the Greenville Drive.

As a team, the Spartans recorded three hits Tuesday evening with redshirt senior shortstop Troy Hamilton leading the way with a pair of hits as he reached in each of his three plate appearances, also reaching on an error. Senior second baseman Easton Cullison recorded Upstate's other hit, a bunt single, as he scored the team's lone run, coming in on Hamilton's second single.

On the mound, junior right-hander Michael Kilker and senior righty Beau Coffman combined to allow one baserunner of the final 2.0 innings, each pitching a scoreless inning. The pair combined to strike out three batters with Kilker punching out one and Coffman striking out two.

How It Happened
- T2: Starting the game's scoring, Clemson plated five runs in the second using a pair of two-run base hits, a single from Cam Cannarella and a triple from Alden Mathes. Blake Wright drove home the inning's final run with a groundout to third.
- T3: Driving home his first RBI of the day, Jacob Jarrell picked up an RBI with a single into center.
- T5: For the second time in the game, the Tigers recorded a five-run inning, doing so in the fifth. Jarrell, Cannarella, Mathes, and Wright each recorded RBI in the innings before the final run of the frame scored via a passed ball.
- B5: Following up a bunt single from Easton Cullison earlier in the inning, Troy Hamilton put the Spartans on the board with his second base hit of the game.
