SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate Women's Soccer and USC Upstate Athletics are proud to announce the addition of a new Women's Developmental Soccer Team, which will debut during the fall 2025 season.

This addition will provide the opportunity for student-athletes to develop their skills in an engaging and competitive environment. With an emphasis on athletic, academic, and personal development, players will benefit from a more balanced approach to academics and athletics. The program is designed to support student-athletes in both their athletic and academic pursuits.

During the fall season, the team will compete against other developmental programs at both the Division I and II levels. The addition of the program expands opportunities for student participation in collegiate athletics and showcases the commitment USC Upstate Athletics has toward athlete development and academic excellence.

Head Coach Sharif Saber stated, "Our developmental team is a bridge for players who show great potential and want an opportunity to play at the collegiate level. It gives us a chance to develop talent within our system and ensure student-athletes are prepared both on and off the field."

The developmental team will train under the same philosophy and structure as the varsity program with access to coaching staff, training facilities, academic support, and strength and conditioning programs.
