USC Upstate Travels to High Point for Important Big South Matchup

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate women's soccer returns to the road Saturday afternoon as the Spartans continue Big South Conference play against High Point at Vert Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. as Upstate looks to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Upstate returns to action Friday following a 5-1 victory over Winthrop at County University Soccer Stadium. Liana Bryant and Lily MacCausland each scored twice in the victory, while Jasmyn Mitchner added another goal as the Spartans improved to 8-2-3 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in Big South play. Through 13 matches, the Spartans have scored 30 goals on 158 shots, averaging 2.31 goals and 12.2 shots per match. Upstate has placed 84 attempts on goal and recorded 21 assists while generating 80 corner kicks compared to 42 for its opponents. Liana Bryant leads the Upstate attack with eight goals, five assists and 21 points. She also leads the Spartans with 43 shots, 28 shots on goal and four game-winning goals. Jasmyn Mitchner follows with six goals and three assists for 15 points, while Lily MacCausland has scored four goals and added an assist for nine points. USC Upstate WSOC Up to 10.5
Cansu Kara leads the Spartans with seven assists while adding one goal for nine points. Annabelle Wunderlich has contributed three goals and two assists for eight points, while Danielle Trovato and Katelyn Economopoulos have each scored twice. Defensively, Upstate has surrendered just 13 goals through 13 matches, holding opponents to 1.00 goal per game. Hannah Wilt has started 12 matches in goal, recording 46 saves, a .793 save percentage and a 1.07 goals-against average. Wilt owns an 8-2-2 record with two shutouts, while Kayla Cervantes has added another shutout. USC Upstate WSOC Up to 10.5
Friday marks Upstate's fifth Big South match of the season. The Spartans have opened conference play with four consecutive victories, defeating Charleston Southern 2-1, Longwood 2-0, Presbyterian 4-1 and Winthrop 5-1. SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point enters Friday with a 3-7-1 overall record and a 2-1-0 mark in Big South play. The Panthers are coming off a 3-0 victory over Radford after falling 1-0 at UNC Asheville in their previous outing. High Point opened conference play with a 2-1 road victory over Longwood and has won two of its first three Big South matches. High Point to 10.5
Through 11 matches, the Panthers have scored 14 goals on 113 shots, averaging 1.27 goals and 10.3 shots per match. High Point has placed 51 attempts on goal and recorded nine assists while generating 49 corner kicks. The Panthers have allowed 17 goals and 129 shots this season. High Point to 10.5
Sabba Haghgoo leads the High Point attack with four goals, two assists and 10 points. She also leads the Panthers with 26 shots and 14 shots on goal. Morgan Wilcox follows with two goals and one assist for five points, while Brooke Potter and Chloe Edwards have each scored twice. High Point to 10.5
In goal, Nylah Mirshafiei has started 10 matches and recorded 42 saves with a .737 save percentage and a 1.48 goals-against average. She owns a 3-6-1 record with two shutouts.
