
USC Upstate Hires Kyle Campbell as Head Coach for Men's and Women's Developmental Soccer Programs

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate athletics has announced the hiring of Kyle Campbell as head coach for the men's and women's developmental soccer programs.
Campbell joins the Spartans after serving as head women's soccer coach at NCAA Division II King University. Over the course of a year with the Tornados, Campbell tripled the win total and doubled the total goals scored.
He served as Director of Coaching for Spartanburg United Soccer Academy for four years, implementing club curriculum and philosophy. Campbell also conducted coach development meetings and on-field sessions.
Campbell was the head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College from 2021-2024. In his time with the Pioneers, he recorded a 41-16-4 overall record. He helped the program transition from NJCAA to NAIA.
After the program transitioned to NAIA, he posted a record of 11-5-1, the most wins for a first-year NAIA program. The season saw five CAC all-conference athletes.
While SMC was still an NJCAA institution, Campbell earned NJCAA Region 10 Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023. A total of 27 student-athletes earned all-NJCAA Region honors, including 20 first-team and seven second-team honorees. Campbell coached one NJCAA All-American in 2022.
In the 2021 season at Spartanburg Methodist College, he was the assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs.
Campbell's coaching experience began in 2006 as the head men's soccer coach at Eaton High School.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Urbana University in 2006.
Campbell also holds his USSF C License.
