Baseball Earns Four CSC Academic All-District Selections

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Tacking on to a historic 2026 season for USC Upstate baseball, the Spartans find themselves with four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees as sophomore left-handed pitcher Max Kaplan, redshirt sophomore catcher Tyler Lang, senior first baseman Wylie Waters, and redshirt sophomore rightfielder Henry Zenor each earned the honor as announced by the organization Monday.

Zenor, a native of St. Louis, Mo., advances to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America with voting to be conducted by CSC members. The Academic All-America announcement is set for June 23, 2026.

Max Kaplan | Left-Handed Pitcher | Sophomore | Glencoe, Ill.
Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District … Named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week on 5/11/26 … Appeared in 20 games, making 12 starts and eight relief appearances … Tossed 71.2 innings, striking out 64 batters … Posted an 8.04 strikeout per nine innings total … Recorded a 5-5 record and two saves with a 5.65 ERA and .283 opponents' batting average … Tossed a career-high-tying 9.0 innings versus Presbyterian on 5/9/26 … Struck out a season-high seven on four occasions: over 6.0 innings of work versus Western Carolina on 2/17/26; over 7.0 innings of work versus Gardner-Webb on 5/2/26; over 9.0 innings of work versus Presbyterian on 5/9/26; and over 4.0 innings of work versus Northern Kentucky on 5/15/26 … Recorded eight scoreless outings and five quality starts on the season.

Tyler Lang | Catcher | Redshirt Sophomore | Chesterfield, Mo.
Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District … Named to the Big South All-Tournament Team … Named Second Team All-Big South … Named to the Big South All-Academic Team … Appeared in 60 games, making 56 starts … Posted a three-slash line of .295/.424/.452 … Collected 48 runs, 64 hits, 16 doubles, six home runs, and 46 RBI … Drew 43 walks and 10 HBP … Stole four bases in as many attempts … Recorded a career-high-tying three hits on five occasions: versus South Alabama on 2/14/26; versus Georgia Southern on 3/1/26; versus High Point on 3/14/26; versus Elon on 5/5/26; and versus Winthrop on 5/21/26 … Collected a career-high five RBI versus Western Carolina on 4/7/26 … Recorded 19 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games … Posted a career-long five-game hitting streak and a career-long 11-game reached base streak.
