Shriyaan Krishnaraj Wins Gold as Spartans Earn Seven Podium Finishes and Break Three School Records At Big South Outdoor Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – USC Upstate track and field competed at the Big South Outdoor Championship Monday-Wednesday. The Spartans had seven podium finishes, including one champion, 21 new PRs, 43 top finishes, and three school records broken.
Finishing third as a team with 122.5 points, the men's team logged the second-most points ever scored.
Day One: Joshua Sterling placed second in men's hammer, earning him a silver medal. Sterling recorded a mark of 57.12m, putting him fourth all-time in school history.
Day Two: Quintavius James advanced to the men's 100m finals after breaking the school record with a time of 10.40. Jenelda Arishtil finished just off the podium in women's shot put, setting a new PR and going down fifth all-time in school history with a distance of 13.64m.
Day Three: The medals were plentiful for the Spartans on the last day, as well as the breaking of school records. Shriyaan Krishnaraj took home gold in the men's 400m Hurdles, clocking a time of 51.69 to break the school record.
Taylor Thomas earned a top finish in women's javelin, breaking the school record with a mark of 37.27m.
Closing the meet, the men's 4x400m relay team of Zacorian Johnson, Jacob Ruff, Collin Bui-Hayes, and Shriyaan Krishnaraj earned bronze, breaking the school record with a time of 3:09.85.
