Spartans Close Four-Match Road Swing at Western Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate volleyball continues its road swing Thursday evening when the Spartans travel to Western Carolina for a 6 p.m. matchup inside Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center.

Upstate enters the contest at 5-3 following a challenging non-conference start. The Spartans have earned four road victories this season, including wins at Old Dominion, Norfolk State, Queens and North Carolina Central.

Summer Kohler leads Upstate with 124 kills, while Kensley Haneline has added 78 kills and is hitting .363. Kamyla Vega David has recorded 228 assists, and Sophia Overholt leads the Spartans with 146 digs.

Western Carolina enters at 4-7 after facing a competitive early-season schedule. The Catamounts are led offensively by Zoe Zudans with 116 kills, while Katie Boney has 437 assists and Elise Gurley has 205 digs.

Thursday marks the first of two meetings between the teams in a 24-hour span. The Spartans and Catamounts will meet again Friday at 6 p.m. at the G.B. Hodge Center in Spartanburg.

First serve Thursday is set for 6 p.m. in Cullowhee.
