Nick Hoffman enters his third season as an assistant coach at USC Upstate during the 2025 season after being announced to the coaching staff on August 11, 2022.

In 2024, Upstate captured 36 victories, giving the program a fourth consecutive season with 35 or more wins, the longest such streak in program history. The Spartans also returned to the Big South Tournament Championship Game for the second straight season.

Working with the team's pitchers and catchers, under Hoffman's direction Upstate catchers threw out double-digit would-be base stealers (13) while the battery defense combined to pick off 13 runners as the group stopped 26 potential base stealers. The pitching staff in 2024 struck out a program-record 510 hitters, eclipsing the program record for single-season strikeouts for the second consecutive season.

Assisting with the team's baserunning in 2024, helped the group reach 80-plus stolen bases for the third consecutive season, stealing 82 bags in 95 attempts, a success rate of 86.3 percent--a six-percent improvement from the season prior.

In 2023, Hoffman helped guide USC Upstate to one of the most successful seasons in program history as the program reached its first-ever Big South Tournament Championship Game while collecting a program-best 38 overall wins and 21 conference wins (non-40-game conference schedule) en route to the No. 2 seed in the Big South Championship.

Working primarily with the team’s pitchers and catchers, Hoffman oversaw a group of backstops that threw out double-digit would-be base stealers (13) while both staffs worked in conjunction to pick off 12 runners—tied for second-most in the Big South in 2023—as the group cut down 25 total potential base stealers.

He also assisted with the team’s hitters, defense, and baserunning in 2023, helping the group set multiple program records including marks for stolen bases and sacrifice flies. he helped the Spartans rank top 50 in the nation in sacrifice bunts (49th), sacrifice flies (second), and stolen bases (24th) while helping the group steal a program-record 110 bases over 137 attempts, a success rate of 80 percent.

Hoffman joined the Upstate program in 2023 after spending the 2022 season at Spartanburg Methodist, serving as the Pioneers' pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. He oversaw a pitching staff that included multiple All-Region selections, including a First and Second Team selection, and led the Region in strikeouts per nine innings (10.49) and ranked third in ERA (5.00).

Prior to his lone season at Spartanburg Methodist, Hoffman served as the pitching coach at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, S.C. for two seasons (2020 and 2021). During the Spring of 2021, the Falcons' pitching staff finished with a 2.60 ERA and 209 strikeouts over 188 innings, posting a 10.01 strikeout per nine innings total. Hoffman helped 24 wins over two seasons at Nation Ford, including a perfect 6-0 record during the shortened 2020 season.

Before entering the coaching ranks, Hoffman played three seasons at Spartanburg Methodist from 2017-2019, playing in 63 games, posting a .321 career batting average with three home runs and 30 RBI. During his career, he was a part of Spartanburg Methodist's Hall of Fame head coach Tim Wallace's 1,200 career win and a member of the 2019 Region X regular season and postseason championship team.
