2026 (Redshirt Freshman): Made Upstate debut on Feb. 6, 2026 against St. Francis as the catcher and appeared and started in all 61 games..... had 173 at bats contributing to a .301 batting average....added 52 hits along with 11 doubles and tied first on the Spartans with seven HRs.....added 36 RBI and 43 runs scored while adding 84 total bases...named the Big South Freshman of the Week on February 10, 2026....opened her Upstate career batting .563 and going 9-for-16 with four home runs on the weekend through four games....added her season high with four hits against Ohio and had two consecutive games in the same day with two HR vs. Ohio and St. Francis (2/7/26)...added a season-high of two doubles in the historic win over Belmont (5/16/26)...added 190 putouts with a .987 fielding percentage and caught 13 runners stealing on base with 36 assists....aided the Spartans in Championship win against Winthrop hitting a home run and adding two hits (5/9/26) ....added her 11th multi-hit game against Belmont where the Spartans had a historic day defeating SE Louisiana and Belmont to advance to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional final for the first time in Program History.
PRIOR TO UPSTATE: Transferred to USC Upstate after spending a season with Marshall, Laney Jennings will be eager to brought her work ethic to Spartan Softball as a redshirt freshman. A native of Townville, South Carolina, Jennings made her way closer to home by being in her home state while playing the sport she loves. Before the initial transition to Marshall, Laney Jennings was a standout at Pendleton High School, posting a .563 batting average with 71 hits, 52 RBIs, and 14 home runs combined in her last two seasons. Jennings' play on the field saw her earn multiple accolades including All-Region, All-State, and being named Region 13A State Player of the Year in 2024. In a program that has constantly proved to be the perfect place to grow early in their respective careers in softball, Laney Jennings will look be eager to join the Spartans for the 2026 season with a team mixed with experience and leadership from the loaded coaching staff.
