Ezekiel Koech, a 2005 graduate of Francis Marion University, isin his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the USCUpstate track and field and cross country teams. In May of 2009Koech finished his pursuit of a Master's Degree in BusinessAdministration from Gardner-Webb University, additionally Koechreceived an MBA with an Economics concentration from Garder-Webb in2010.
Koech began his collegiate career at Utalii College in Nairobi,Kenya (1998-2000) where he was part of the cross country and trackand field teams while obtaining an associate's degree in Tourism,Travel and Hotel Administration. While at Utalli, Koech set schoolrecords in the 3,000-meter run (8:38) and 5,000-meter run(14:13).
Koech continued his athletic endevors while studying at HardingUniversity from 2001-2002. While at Harding he was recognized as afirst team all-conference, all-region and national finisher beforetransferring to Francis Marion.
Koech continued his education and collegiate career at FMU(2003-2005) where he received a bachelor's degree in businessadministration with a concentration in management. During his timeat Francis Marion he was a member of the cross country and trackand field teams. Koech set the cross country school-record (8k)with a performance of 25:30. He also set a school record in the10,000-meter run. He was named as the cross country and track andfield teams MVP in 2005.
Following graduation, Koech remained in Florence, S.C., to serveas an assistant coach for the cross country and track and fieldprograms. He served as the training and recruiting coordinatorwhile developing and overseeing the practices for the program.Notably, during his time at Francis Marion, Koech recruited andcoached the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Year.
