India Trotter is in her third yearas assistant women's soccer coach at USC Upstate in 2014-15.
Trotter, a former U.S.Women’s National Team member and Florida State All-American,spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons as a volunteer coach at Syracusebefore her arrival in Spartanburg.
In just a short amount of time, Trotter has helped USC Upstatereach new heights since becoming a Division I program prior to thestart of the 2007 season. In her first season on campus, Trotterhelped guide the 2012 Spartans to more wins than the previousseason. Most recently, Upstate set a school record for the mostwins in a season during the Division I era in 2013. The Spartansalso knocked off A-Sun champion and Women’s College Cupparticipant Jacksonville along the way. Trotter also played aninstrumental role in leading Upstate to the most road victoriessince the 2004 season.
Trotter was a member of the U.S.Women’s National Team from 2006-09 and was an alternate forthe 2007 World Cup and 2008 Beijing Olympics squads. Her stint withthe U.S. Women’s National Team came at the same time sheenjoyed a solid professional soccer career. Following her widelysuccessful college career at Florida State, she was drafted by theSt. Louis Athletica in the Women’s Professional Soccer Draftin 2008. She went on the play for the New Jersey Sky and AtlantaBeat in the WPS. She ended her professional career playing forDalsjofors in the Elite Division in Sweden.
Trotter made a name for herself asa college player at Florida State. She was a four-year member ofthe Seminoles squad from 2003-06 and helped lead Florida State totremendous success. The Seminoles were 67-21-9 overall and 22-9-5in the ACC during her time in the program. She helped lead FloridaState to four-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament, threeappearances in the College Cup (2003, 2005-06) and as a finalist inthe national championship game in 2005.
Trotter finished her Florida Statecareer with 24 goals, 18 assists and 66 points. She ranks ninthall-time in scoring, ninth all-time in goals and third all-time ingames played. She was a semifinalist for the M.A.C. Herman Trophyaward as the nation’s top collegiate soccer player in 2006and was a finalist for the Honda Award. She was named a FreshmanAll-American by Soccer America and Soccer Buzz in 2003 and earnedSecond Team All-America honors by the NSCAA and Soccer Buzz in2005. She was a three-time first team All-ACC selection (2004-06).She was also a standout in the classroom, earning first teamScholar All-America honors from the NSCAA in 2005, was an ACCAcademic Honor Roll selection and earned ESPN the MagazineAll-District first team honors in 2005. She graduated from FloridaState with a bachelor’s degree in Media Productions in2007.
A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.,Trotter was a standout at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Shehelped lead her prep team to three 5A State Final Four appearances.She was a three-time All-Broward/Dade team member and finished herhigh school career with 62 goals and 47 assists. She played clubsoccer for Team Boca.
