Patrick McGuff is in his second season as the volunteer assistant coach with the USC Upstate baseball program.
McGuff joined the Spartans after spending four seasons in the minors with the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations. He finished his professional career with a 12-10 overall record, 12 saves and a 3.45 ERA in 187.2 innings pitched. The right handed pitcher struck out 191 career batters and averaged 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

McGuff's best professional season out of the bullpen came in 2016 as a member of the Elizabethton Twins. That season, he recorded nine saves in 18 appearances and registered a 2.27 ERA for the Twins Appalachian League affiliate. As a starter, McGuff's best season came in 2019 as a member of the Evansville Otters, a Frontier League affiliate. He went 5-0 for the Otters in six starts and struck out 60 batters in 43 innings.

In two seasons at Morehead State, McGuff helped the Eagles to an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship in 2015. The Eagles advanced to the NCAA Louisville Regional in 2015 as well. As an Eagle, McGuff made 30 appearances and 18 starts over two seasons for the Blue and Gold. The Ohio native pitched 99.2 innings, struck out 98 batters and finished with a career 6.05 ERA.
