
Upstate Finishes 14th at ODU/Seascape Invitational

KITTY HAWK, N.C. - The USC Upstate men's golf team shot a final round 296, sliding six spots to a tie for 14th at the ODU/Seascape Invitational played on the 6,131-yard, par-70 Seascape Resort course Tuesday afternoon.
Upstate entered the final round tied for eighth but struggled in Tuesday's round, finishing with the 296 and a 594 total to tie James Madison for 14th.
Hartford shot a 285 Tuesday to move from second place to first place in the tournament with a 569 total. Campbell finished second with a 572 total and was followed by Wofford (574), Old Dominion (576), Winthrop (578), Richmond (578), Liberty (579), Elon (581), Princeton (585), Davidson (588), St. Bonaventure (588), Binghamton (590), George Washington (593), Upstate (594), James Madison (594), Radford (595), George Mason (601), Drexel (603), St. Joseph's (610), Delaware (610) and Samford (616) in the 21-team event.
Individually, Richmond's Jordan Utley entered the final round in a three-way tie for first, but carded an even-par 70 to win the individual title.
Upstate was led by Josh Gallman who finished with a 7-over-par 147 total after shooting a 76 Tuesday. The Gaffney native finished in a tie for 33rd. Baxter Culler finished a stroke back of Gallman with a 148 total and tied for 39th. Michael Lawrence finished tied for 71st with a 152 total, while Jeffery Horton continued his solid play, firing a team-low 73 to finish tied with Lawrence with a 152 total. Jamie Lightsey was tied for 92nd with a 156 effort.
