SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the second time this year, USC Upstate men's golfer and Gaffney native Josh Gallman has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Month for men's golf, announced the league Wednesday.
Gallman earned the honor after winning the Stetson/CFSC Invitational Nov. 5-6 in a field that included A-Sun foes Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast. Gallman fired a 4-under-par score over three rounds to win the individual title by a dominating six strokes. He was 7-under over his final two rounds.
Gallman's win at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational was his second of the season. He is off to a tremendous year in 2007-08. He finished second at the season-opening Rutgers Invitational to help Upstate win the team title in their first tournament as a member of NCAA Division I. He won the individual title in the next event at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate. He was named the A-Sun Golfer of the Month for September.
Gallman leads the Spartans with a 71.1 stroke average. He has five Top 10 and four Top 5 individual finishes in six tournaments through the fall. Gallman was a key contributor as a freshman last year in helping the Spartans to a second-place finish in the NCAA Division II National Championships.
