
Four Spartans Qualify for SCGA Amateur Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. - Four USC Upstate men's golfers - Michael Lawrence, Josh Gallman, Brandon Bradosky, and Jamie Lightsey - were part of 26 individuals who qualified for the 76th Annual South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur Championship from Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff.
Lawrence shot a 3-under-par 69 on the par-72 Three Pines course to finish one stroke off of medalist honors at the qualification site. He was one of three players to shoot 69 on the day. Todd Hendley took medalist honors with a 68. Gallman, whose spectacular play on the final day helped Upstate take second place in the 2007 NCAA Division II National Championships, shot a 1-under 71. Brandon Bradosky also shot 71. Lightsey was the final Spartan to qualify for the Amateur Championship with an even par 72.
The four Spartans will join players from three other qualifying sites in the 76th Annual Amateur Championship played Aug. 2-5 at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence. The Amateur Championship is one of 18 major championships conducted annually by the SCGA.
