SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate baseball program needs your help as it enters its 25th season in 2010. Begun in 1986, the Spartan nine have had a varied and successful history, all the way from an 8-3 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on March 2, 1986 to its last game of 2009, a 9-2 win over Campbell. The baseball program, in conjunction with the USC Upstate athletic media relations department, has accepted nominations for the Top 25 Moments in program history. Now through Friday, Oct. 16, the program's followers, fans, family, alumni and supporters can vote on the final ballot.
The ballot has been split into five distinct eras to ensure solid representation from across all of the program's 25-year history. Fans will have the ability to select five moments from a list created in each era (1986-89, 1990-94, 1995-99, 2000-04, 2005-09) and the top five vote-getters in each era will make the Top 25 Moments.
The Top 25 Moments in Upstate baseball history will be released on UpstateSpartans.com from Monday, Feb. 15 to Friday, Feb. 19 in a weeklong celebration before the Spartans open their Silver Season on Saturday, Feb. 20 against Appalachian State.
Each of the 25 moments will be honored with a PA announcement before one of USC Upstate's 29 home games at beautiful Harley Park. Check back on UpstateSpartans.com for the complete commemoration schedule in late February.
