Spartans Move Up a Spot at Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team posted a final round 297 and moved up a spot on the leaderboard to finish 12th in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational held at the Country Club of Spartanburg Tuesday afternoon.
Upstate finished the 54-hole event with an 892 total and in 12th place. A-Sun foe East Tennessee State successfully defended its championship from a year ago, turning in a 284 on Tuesday to win the title with an 858 total.
Richmond was second with an 863 total and was followed by Campbell (870), Charleston Southern (876), Wofford (878), Radford (880), Elon (881), Gardner-Webb (881), Samford (886), Stetson (889), Longwood (891), Upstate (892), Appalachian State (895), Presbyterian (901) and High Point (904).
Upstate freshman Adam Goins (Gaffney, S.C.) began the day 2-under-par as the low Spartan, but carded a 78 on Tuesday. He still finished as the low Upstate player in the tournament, claiming a top 25 finish and tied for 25th. Tyler Comer (Pacolet Mills, S.C.) shot even-par 72 on Tuesday and climbed to a tie for 38th in the final standings.
Nelson Dickson (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished the tournament tied for 45th after posting a 76 on Tuesday. Matthew Hopper (Gaffney, S.C.) rebounded from a tough Monday to shoot 1-under-par for the day. He finished the tournament tied for 62nd with a 229 total. Brad Sill (Spartanburg, S.C.) shot 81 on Tuesday. McKenzie Oref (Easley, S.C.), playing as an individual, tied Dickson, finishing with a 75 on Tuesday and a tournament total of 227.
Charleston Southern's Jacobo Pastor shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday and claimed the individual championship by two strokes with a 6-under-par 210 total.
