
Upstate Baseball Program to Host Catcher's Elite Camp

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball program is set to host an Elite Catcher's Camp Jan. 19-20, giving high school catchers the chance to learn all aspects of the position before the 2013 season.
The two-day event will take place at Cleveland Harley Park located in the Louis P. Howell Athletic Complex on the campus of USC Upstate. The camp is open to 8th-12th graders and the cost to attend is $100 per person. The Camp will run Saturday from 12-4 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. No meals or lodging will be provided.
Campers will be instructed in all aspects of catching. This will include: stance, receiving, blocking, throwing mechanics, fielding of bunts, pop-ups, tag plays, game management, pitch calling and communication with pitchers and umpires.
Catcher specific stretching, agilities and overview of strength and conditioning will also be covered.
The goal of the staff is to provide knowledge, enthusiasm and excitement to all campers.
