SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After improving to 15-6 in league play over the weekend and moving two games ahead of Belmont in the Atlantic Sun race, the USC Upstate baseball team was highlighted in the latest ESPN College Baseball Blog.
The Spartans, who sit 32-14 overall, are just four wins shy of tying the single-season record for wins (36, 1987). The 2012 season marks the first year of full Division I eligibility for the club after a five-year transition from Division II.
Upstate, according to ESPN Baseball Bracketology, will be the four-seed in the Columbia, S.C., regional. ESPN has South Carolina as the one-seed (No. 6 national seed), Clemson as the two-seed, with Elon rounding out the four-team field as the three-seed.
