Upstate Baseball Players Selected to Summer League All-Star Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A pair of USC Upstate baseball players are excelling in summer ball, earning spots in the All-Star game for the Florida Collegiate League and leading their team down the final stretch of the summer campaign.
Lee Dunnam, a rising sophomore for the Spartans was selected as an All-Star for the Orlando Freedom, while transfer Daniel Seeba was named an All-Star for the Sanford River Rats.
A .235 hitter in 26 games this summer, Dunnam has six doubles, one triple and one home run for the Orlando Freedom. The outfielder has stolen six bases and recorded 11 walks.
He also made the most of his all-star selection when he led the North All-Stars to a 9-4 win with a pair of hits and two runs batted in, including two stolen bases in the contest.
"I am very happy for Lee," USC Upstate head coach Matt Fincher said. "The summer league has given him a chance to play on a regular basis and he has done a good job down there. We are really looking forward to seeing if he can help us in the outfield this spring."
Seeba, an incoming transfer from Anne Arundel Community College, is hitting .262 with eight doubles for the Sanford River Rats. In 30 games, he has compiled 18 RBI, one triple and one home run. His best game of the summer came at Winter Park on July 14, when the Bowie, Md., native went 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in.
"We are excited Daniel is going to join the program," Fincher said. "We feel strongly he is the kind of individual we want and we think he can have an impact immediately."
The Sanford River Rats are currently in fourth place in the Florida Collegiate League with a 17-18 record, while the Orlando Freedom sit in sixth place with a 7-25 mark. Both clubs return to action on Friday, July 27, 2012, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
