
Upstate Heads to Indiana for Sunday Afternoon Contest

Bloomington, Ind. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team continues its five-game road trip Sunday afternoon against the Indiana Hoosiers at 2 p.m. inside Assembly Hall.
The Spartans enter the contest 3-4 on the season after falling to George Washington on Nov. 25, while the Hoosiers are unbeaten at 6-0.
Upstate fell to George Washington 83-56 in its first game of the road trip that will cover the entire month of December. The Spartans received a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds from Brittany Starling, while Brittany Clency added nine points in her first start of the season. Lauren Bogle had a career-high eight points off the bench.
Starling tops the Upstate offense this season averaging 12.3 points per game while adding a team-best 7.1 rebounds per contest. Sharmayne Edwards is pouring in 11.7 points per game and Shelby Hicks pulls down 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Indiana is under the direction of second-year head coach Curt Miller. He holds a 17-19 overall record with the Hoosiers and 275-111 mark in 13 seasons as a head coach. Miller previously spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Bowling Green.
Larryn Brooks leads the Indiana offense averaging 18.0 points per game, and is one of three players scoring in double-figures this season. Tabitha Gerardot is contributing 12.2 points per game while Sasha Chaplin averages 10.7 per contest.
The Spartans will be meeting the Hoosiers for the first time on the hardwood Sunday afternoon.
Upstate returns to action Saturday, Dec. 7 when it heads to Asheville, N.C. to face the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
