Spartanburg, S.C. – Winners of three of the last four games, the USC Upstate men's basketball team returns home to host UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Hodge Center.
The Spartans are 2-0 at home this season and boast an 18.0 average margin of victory in games played inside the Hodge Center. Additionally, Upstate has won 12 straight non-conference games at home and has not lost to an opponent outside the Atlantic Sun since 2009.
USC Upstate and UNC Asheville will be meeting on the hardwood for the 14th time when the two teams tipoff Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs own a 7-6 record in the all-time series that dates back to the 1970-71 season, but Upstate has won three of the last four meetings, which includes a 73-71 victory last season in Asheville. Upstate is 3-3 all-time at home against UNC Asheville and has not lost to the Bulldogs at home since 1984.
USC Upstate is 60-62 all-time against teams from the Big South Conference. The Spartans have been most successful against Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian, having won a total of 12 games against each of the three schools. Upstate is 0-1 this season against the Big South after dropping an 82-74 decision at Winthrop earlier this year.
Spartan senior Torrey Craig enters play leading the A-Sun in scoring with 18.1 points per game and needs just one point on Sunday to move into third place on Upstate's all-time scoring list. Craig is looking to become just the second player all-time to lead the A-Sun in scoring for three straight years.
Ty Greene stands second on the team and sixth in the league with 14.4 points per game, while Ricardo Glenn also averages double figures with 11.6 points per game. Senior Jodd Maxey ranks third in the A-Sun with 7.2 rebounds per game.
