
Goins Named A-Sun Golfer of the Week

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate standout men's golfer and Gaffney native Adam Goins finished up a tremendous outing at the Sacramento State Invitational Tuesday afternoon. One day later, he was named the A-Sun Golfer of the Week after a strong second-place finish in the tournament, announced the league Wednesday.
Goins picked up his second A-Sun Golfer of the Week honor of the season and the third of his career. He earned the award after finishing second by a single stroke at the Sacramento State Invitational. He made five birdies in his final round Tuesday, finishing with a 2-under-par 70 and a 54-hole total of 209 (-7). He finished the tournament with 12 birdies.
Goins has continued in his role as the leader on the course for the Spartans. He tops the club with a 74.3 stroke average. He owns four Top 5 finishes in eight tournaments this season, including a win at the Rutgers Invitational in the fall and second-place finishes at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational and the Sacramento State Invitational. He also finished fourth at the Charleston Shootout.
Goins currently ranks second all-time behind all-time great Josh Gallman with a 74.3 stroke average and three individual tournament championships. His seven Top 10 finishes ranks fourth all-time.
