
Spartans Close Out Regular Season at Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Playing a course familiar to most of the players, the USC Upstate men's golf team will close out the regular season Monday and Tuesday at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational being played in Spartanburg.
Upstate is making its fifth appearance in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational and have two second-place finishes in the event. The tournament is being played at the Country Club of Spartanburg and hosted by Wofford. The course plays at 6,648 yards and is a par-72 layout. The 16 teams and individuals in the tournament will play 54 holes with 36 played Monday and the final round played on Tuesday.
Upstate is joined in the tournament by Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, ETSU, Elon, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, James Madison, Longwood, Presbyterian College, Radford, Stetson, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford. ETSU and Winthrop are ranked in the Top 100 in the latest Golfstat rankings, coming in at No. 80 and No. 90, respectively.
Upstate head coach Todd Lawton has had to shuffle his lineup heading into the tournament as Brad Sill has turned professional and withdrawn from school. Lawton will send the lineup of Adam Goins, Ryan Cornfield, Brian Horton, Sebastian Lopez Bulla and McKenzie Oref into action this week.
Upstate is averaging 300.7 as a team with Goins leading the way at 74.3 per round. Cornfield is right behind at 74.9. Goins tops the club with four Top 5 finishes and a win at the Rutgers Invitational in the fall. Cornfield owns two Top 10 and one Top 5 outing. Goins and Cornfield have played in every tournament this season, while Horton has played in six events. Lopez Bulla is making his third tournament appearance this season, while Oref, a senior, makes his season debut.
