
Upstate Men's Golf Set to Play Badger Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Claiming wins in each of its first two tournaments of the season, the USC Upstate men's golf team will take its undefeated record to Madison, Wisc., to play in the Badger Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Sunday through Tuesday at the University Ridge Golf Course.
Wisconsin is hosting the Badger Invitational for the fifth time, but the first since 2003. University Ridge plays at 7,259 yards and is a par-72 layout. The 54-hole event will have the teams play 18 holes each day of the tournament. Upstate is one of 14 teams in the field and will be joined by Austin Peay, Charleston Southern, Illinois State, Kansas, Marquette, Missouri-Kansas City, Northern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Rutgers, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Wofford and Xavier. Wisconsin will have live scoring updates featured on its website, uwbadgers.com, for all three rounds.
Upstate is coming off back-to-back wins its first two tournaments of the season. The Spartans finished 12-under-par to win the Springhill Suites Intercollegiate by two shots over Presbyterian. Just a few days later, the Spartans shot 3-over to win the Rutgers Invitational by two strokes as well. It is the first time in program history Upstate has won back-to-back tournaments.
Upstate head coach Todd Lawton will send the lineup of Ryan Cornfield, Adam Goins, Danny Brock, Taylor White and Sebastian Lopez Bulla into action at the Badger Invitational. The lineup is the same lineup from the first two tournaments. The Spartans average 284.5 per round with Cornfield leading the way individually with a 70.0 stroke average. Goins is second at 70.3.
