Lopez Bulla Leads Spartans in Final Round of Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Sebastian Lopez Bulla shot an even-par 72 to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team as the Spartans finished 12th in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
Lopez Bulla posted one birdie on the front nine and two on the back to shoot even par. His effort Tuesday closed out a solid tournament that saw him shoot rounds of 72, 73 and 72 to finish with a 217 total and tied for 36th as the second lowest Spartan in the tournament.
Upstate counted scores of 72, 73, 76 and 81 on Thursday to shoot 302 in the final round.
Lamar came from behind to win the team championship, carding a 276 in the final round Tuesday and finishing the tournament with an 833 total. Elon was second at 837 and was followed by Wofford (840), Radford (849), No. 50 TCU (853), Appalachian State (853), Gardner-Webb (860), Longwood (868), Francis Marion (872), James Madison (876), Presbyterian (877), Upstate (879), Western Carolina (886), Stetson (890) and High Point (906).
Ryan Cornfield closed out the tournament with a 76, collecting two birdies in his round. He was the top Spartan in the tournament and claimed a tie for 24th with a 2-under-par total of 214. Taylor White also had a consistent tournament, finishing with a 218 total with rounds of 73, 72 and 73 to finish tied for 40th. He posted three birdies on the day.
Sean Hassell shot an 81 for the fourth countable score Tuesday and finished with a 233 total, while Adam Goins turned in an 82 and finished with a 232 total. Danny Brock played as an individual and finished with a 233 total after shooting an 84 Tuesday.
Elon's John Somers won medalist honors with a 206 total, winning the tournament by two strokes.
Upstate now turns its attention to the A-Sun Championships next Monday-Wednesday on the Legends Course at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga.
