Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a seven-game road trip that spanned nearly three weeks, the USC Upstate baseball team returns home for the first time since April 18 when the Spartans welcome Jacksonville to Harley Park Friday at 6 p.m. to begin a three-game series.
Upstate freshman right-hander Zac Manuppelli (3-5, 5.29) will square off against Jacksonville right-hander Alex McRae (4-6, 6.31) in game one of the series, while Spartan senior southpaw David Roseboom (2-6, 3.89) will make his 55th career start in game two on Saturday and will face Dolphin lefty Josh Baker (3-3, 4.92). Sunday's finale will feature Upstate right-hander Dylan Parker (1-4, 5.43) against Jacksonville righty Justin Russell (5-3, 4.55).
The Spartans will also celebrate Senior Day prior to first pitch of game three Sunday afternoon, recognizing the accomplishments and achievements of AJ Mackey, Tyler Lesch, Roseboom, Daniel Seeba, Brian Thompson and Luke Weber.
Weber recently added another accomplishment to his growing list of accolades when he became the school's all-time doubles leader Wednesday at College of Charleston. Weber connected for a leadoff double in the second inning to collect the 54th of his career to pass Chris Nowak and move into sole possession of first place. The Spartanburg native enters the weekend with nine doubles this season and has one in four of his last eight games.
Roseboom registered five strikeouts in his last outing and became one of just four pitchers in school history with 200 career punchouts. He currently stands third all-time at Upstate with 203 career strikeouts, which included a career-high 10 earlier this season against Florida Gulf Coast.
Following the series with Jacksonville, Upstate will play its final home game of the season Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Charleston Southern.
