Upstate Wraps Up First Two Rounds at Camden Collegiate Invitational in Sixth Place

Camden, S.C. – Sebastian Lopez Bulla carded an opening day 143 to sit in a tie for 12th place as the USC Upstate men's golf team is sixth following day one of the Camden Collegiate Invitational from the Camden Country Club.
As a team, Upstate posted a first day total score of 586 (296-290) and is two strokes behind fifth place Charleston Southern, and six back of Furman and USC-Aiken who are tied for the third position.
South Carolina leads the Camden Collegiate Invitational by 22 strokes over second place Wofford. Andrew Novak of Wofford holds a three-stroke lead over South Carolina's Keenan Huskey and Will Miles after shooting a first day 134 (-6).
The Spartans counted scores on Saturday from Lopez Bulla, Taylor White, Ryan Cornfield, Matt Carter and Tom Schofield.
Lopez Bulla had rounds of 73 and 70 for his total of score of 143 (+3), while White is two spots behind him in a tie for 14th with a 4-over 144 (71-73). Cornfield added a 6-over 146 (75-71) and Carter, playing in his first collegiate tournament, posted a 154 (77-77). Schofield sits tied for 62nd place with a two-round score of 155 (79-76).
Playing as individuals, Trey Taylor and Andrew Purcell are tied for 50th and 71st positions. Taylor turned in a first day score of 152 (77-75) while Purcell contributed a 160 (81-79).
The final round of the Camden Collegiate Invitational will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
